How to actually find out whether your Instagram bio link is working, instead of guessing.
You post something, mention the link in your bio, and then have basically no easy way to tell whether anyone actually tapped it — Instagram's own insights tend to focus on your posts and profile, not on what happens after someone leaves the app, and exactly what they show changes over time. If you want a real answer to "how many people clicked my link in bio," you need something that's actually counting on the other end of that tap. (If you don't have a page behind that link yet, see How to Add Multiple Links to Your Instagram Bio first.)
The answer isn't a separate analytics tool bolted onto Instagram — it's making sure the page your bio link actually points to is one that counts visits and clicks itself. Once that's true, every tap on your bio link becomes a real, visible number instead of a guess.
Once you're tracking, a decent analytics view should tell you: how many total visits your page got, which individual links or buttons people actually clicked, and enough about where that traffic came from to make sense of it — typically referrers, countries, and device types. None of that requires anything from Instagram itself; it's all counted on your own page.
If your bio link is the only place you share your page's address, you can already assume every visit is from Instagram — strands counts each one automatically, with no tagging required. UTM tags are useful for a different reason: they add a second, independent record inside whatever outside analytics tool is watching the page a link ultimately sends someone to (your own site's analytics, for instance), so that tool can report Instagram traffic as its own line rather than lumping it in with everything else. A free UTM link builder can generate a tagged link for your bio in a few seconds.
The numbers are only useful if you actually do something with them. If one link is getting most of the clicks, move it higher, where it's seen sooner. If something's been sitting near the bottom with nothing for weeks, it's probably safe to drop. Checking in periodically, not obsessively, is enough to keep the page pointed at what's actually working.
Publish your page, put its address in your Instagram bio, and open Analytics from the admin sidebar. The Overview dashboard shows total profile visits, link clicks, and block clicks over a range you choose, plus your top 5 performing links and blocks and where that traffic came from — referrers, countries, and devices. Any individual link also has its own analytics view, reachable from its options menu on Branded links, with lifetime clicks and the same referrer, country, and device breakdowns for the past 7 days. See Understanding your link analytics for the full picture of what each view shows.
